Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has paid a visit to the Soilless Farm Lab, an innovative agricultural facility owned by renowned Nigerian farmer Samson Ogbole, who gained widespread recognition for his groundbreaking soil-free farming techniques.
Obasanjo, who was accompanied by traditional rulers, including the Olota of Ota, and other dignitaries, was captured on camera uprooting fresh vegetables at the Soilless Farm, a moment that underscored his keen interest in modern agricultural advancements.

The Soilless Farm Lab has become a model for sustainable farming in Nigeria, utilizing hydroponics and aeroponics to cultivate crops without soil, innovations that prompted Obasanjo’s visit. This cutting-edge approach involves growing plants in nutrient-rich water or air-based systems, significantly enhancing efficiency while ensuring healthier and faster-growing produce.
The farm specializes in the cultivation of export-quality vegetables, including Ugu (pumpkin leaves), Shoko, Tete (green amaranth), Ewedu (jute leaves), Bitterleaf, and Habanero peppers. Each crop is meticulously nurtured to meet international standards, positioning them for both local markets and global export.
