Tinubu NIS CG Kemi Nandap

President Bola Tinubu has approved the extension of Kemi Nandap’s tenure as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) until December 31, 2026.

Nandap, who began her career with the NIS on October 9, 1989, was appointed as Comptroller-General on March 1, 2024. Her initial tenure was scheduled to end on August 31, 2025, but with this extension, she will now serve for an additional period.

In a statement issued on Monday, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy announced the decision, emphasizing Tinubu’s confidence in Nandap’s leadership. He acknowledged her achievements in strengthening border control, modernizing immigration systems, and enhancing national security.

The statement highlighted the significant progress made in the NIS since Nandap took over, noting that her leadership has driven improvements in critical areas of immigration management and national security.

President Tinubu praised her commitment and urged her to remain focused on key priorities that align with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Reaffirming his government’s support for the NIS, he assured Nigerians of continued efforts to secure the country’s borders and ensure a well-regulated immigration system.

President Tinubu with the decision to extend the tenure of Nandap was, however, mute on the fate of her subordinates.
