Female LG Chairman Takes Leave After Leak Of Nude Video

Norah Mahlangu, the mayor of Tswaing Local Municipality in North West, South Africa, has taken a month-long special leave after an explicit video of her was leaked within her party’s provincial WhatsApp group.
The video, which showed Mahlangu undressing and engaging in explicit acts, quickly spread among members of the African National Congress (ANC) in the province.
The release of the video has reportedly caused Mahlangu significant distress, leading her to fall into a deep depression as she dealt with the public shame and scrutiny. As a result, she decided to step away from her duties temporarily.
Sunday World confirmed that her last public appearance was at the funeral of two municipal workers who tragically died while attempting to clear a drainage system in Agisanang township. During the service, Mahlangu called for a thorough investigation into the deaths.
Tswaing Speaker Sam Letlakane confirmed that Mahlangu was severely affected by the incident and required time off to recover from the emotional toll it had taken. While the exact circumstances behind the leak remain unclear, there is speculation that Mahlangu had sent the video to a partner.
Allegedly, after she refused the partner’s demands for money, the video was shared with political rivals, potentially as an attempt to ruin her reputation in advance of the upcoming local government elections.
