Rivers Sole Administrator Dumps Fubara’s 2025 Budget
By Benjamin Abioye

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice-Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd), has revealed that a new state budget is currently being prepared.
This comes after the Supreme Court nullified the previous 2025 budget. Ibas shared this update during a meeting with members of the Rivers Caucus from the National Assembly in Port Harcourt.
He stated that the new budget will focus on major areas such as education, healthcare, social services, and infrastructure. According to him, these sectors are essential for improving the quality of life for the people of Rivers State. “We have acted swiftly in response to the Supreme Court verdict, and are putting together a new budget that reflects our dedication to healthcare, education, social services, and continued infrastructural development,” he said.
A ten-member delegation, led by a senator from Rivers South-East, attended the meeting. Ibas assured them that the budgeting process would be open and inclusive. He also emphasized the importance of starting the implementation quickly. “Our goal is to ensure that we do not lose any more time in making necessary investments that will improve the lives of our citizens,” he added.
The new budget will also focus on job creation, agriculture, technology, and further development of infrastructure. Ibas stressed that time is of the essence. “We understand the urgency of this initiative, and we are committed to ensuring that these plans are implemented without delay,” he stated.
He asked the lawmakers to support the budget both financially and legislatively. “As I have earlier stated, we need your support as the key representatives of Rivers State in the National Assembly to help us secure the necessary resources and legislative backing to bring this initiative to fruition,” he emphasized.
Ibas highlighted the importance of working together to ensure Rivers State continues to progress and stay peaceful. “Your partnership is critical to success in ensuring that Rivers State remains on the path of progress and enduring peace for future generations,” he concluded.
He also spoke about the current security situation in the state, following the State of Emergency declared by the President. “Our state has faced difficult challenges, especially with the declaration of the State of Emergency. This was a necessary measure to address the insecurity that threatened the very fabric of our communities,” he said.
He expressed appreciation for the efforts of the federal government, security agencies, and the people in helping to restore calm. “We have made notable progress in restoring peace and stability to our great state,” he said. Ibas promised that his government would keep working with the police, military, and other security bodies to ensure safety for all.
“Our goal has been to create an environment where our citizens can live in safety and pursue their livelihoods without fear,” he added.
The administration is also focusing on involving local communities in peace-building through discussions and reconciliation. “Dialogue, reconciliation, and inclusivity have been key to building trust among our people. We are determined to strengthen the bond of unity in Rivers State and foster an environment where every citizen feels valued, heard, and respected,” Ibas said.
He thanked the lawmakers for their support so far and encouraged ongoing collaboration. “We are deeply grateful for the support you have provided so far. But we must continue to work together to ensure that this process is sustained and that Rivers State remains a model of peace, unity, and progress for the entire nation,” he said.
Looking forward, Ibas stressed the need for economic growth along with security and unity efforts to move the state forward.
