Yobe Desert Stars Involved In Road Accident

A road accident in Sokoto left several Yobe Desert Stars players and officials with minor injuries while traveling for a league match in Birnin Kebbi, prompting the club to request prayers for their recovery.

A serious road accident occurred on Thursday involving players and officials of the Yobe Desert Stars Football Club as they were traveling for a league match in Birnin Kebbi.

The crash happened in Sokoto State while the team was on the road. According to the club’s media unit, the accident led to minor injuries for some team members. Three officials and several players were hurt and later taken to a nearby hospital, where they received medical attention.

The club confirmed the incident through a statement and asked the public, especially football fans in Damaturu, to keep the injured in their thoughts and prayers. “We urge our supporters and all football lovers to remain calm and pray for the swift recovery of those injured in the accident,” the club stated.

It was also revealed that the team was not using their regular club bus because it was out of service. Instead, they had to travel in a mass transit vehicle. The accident happened when this bus collided with a truck.

Despite the frightening nature of the event, the club has not reported any fatalities, and everyone involved is currently recovering.
