Burial Date For Edwin Clark Announced

The family of the late elder statesman, Edwin Clark, has released details of his burial arrangements.
He will be laid to rest on May 13, 2025, in his hometown, Kiagbodo, located in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
Edwin Clark, a respected leader from the South-South region and a former federal Commissioner for Information, died on February 17, 2025, in Abuja.
His eldest son, Penaowei Clark, announced the burial program during a short event held at the family house in Kiagbodo. The gathering was attended by many dignitaries, including the traditional ruler of Mein Kingdom, HRM Samuel Fuludu (Ogiogio II), the head of the Clark family, Prof. C. C. Clark, and Delta State Commissioner for Riverine Infrastructure Development, Chief Ebikeme Clark.
According to Penaowei Clark, the burial activities will begin on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. The first event will be a lecture in honour of his late father at the NAF Conference Centre & Suites in Abuja by 11 am.
Other important events planned for the burial include:
– On Thursday, May 8, 2025, there will be a valedictory session at the Senate Chamber by 11 am.
– On Friday, May 9, 2025, a day of tribute will be held at the NAF Conference Centre & Suites in Abuja by 3 pm.
– On Saturday, May 10, 2025, a wrestling contest will take place in Yenagoa. The same day, a service of songs will hold at St. James’ Anglican Church, Asokoro, Abuja by 5 pm.
– On Sunday, May 11, 2025, a boat regatta will take place in Port Harcourt. There will also be a masquerade display and a candlelight memorial in Kiagbodo, Yenagoa, and Abuja from 7 pm to 8 pm.
– On Monday, May 12, 2025, a commendation service will hold at the National Christian Centre in Abuja by 8 am. This will be followed by a valedictory court session at the High Court of Justice in Warri, Delta State, by 10 am. Afterwards, his body will be moved from Abuja to Yenagoa for additional services in Bayelsa and Delta States.
– On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, there will be a lying-in-state at Edwin Clark University in Kiagbodo from 10 am to 10:30 am. A commendation service will follow at 10:30 am. The funeral service will take place at 11 am, followed by a reception at 1 pm, and the burial at 5 pm. An all-night vigil will then hold.
The entire burial ceremonies will end with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
