In a major win for Nigerian gospel music, renowned worship leaders Nathaniel Bassey and Mercy Chinwo have made a powerful debut on YouTube Music’s list of top 20 most-streamed Nigerian artistes for the first quarter of 2025.
According to figures released by Debut Hub, Nathaniel Bassey garnered an impressive 52.8 million streams, while Mercy Chinwo followed closely with 46.4 million streams, marking their first appearance among Nigeria’s streaming elite.
Mercy Chinwo’s evergreen hit, “Excess Love,” remains a global gospel anthem, clocking over 133 million views on YouTube alone.
