Uromi Killings: Group Wants Support For Military

As tensions continue to rise in Uromi, Edo State, the Unity Advance Group, UAG, have called for restraint, saying the military is equal to the task of safeguarding the country.

Recall that 16 northerners were killed in Uromi by some persons who suspected they were part of the kidnappers disturbing the town.

This led the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Chris Musa, to vow that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

UAG in a press release on Friday, condemned the killings and warned against any spillover.

The press release signed by UAG Convener, Ifeanyi Aigbedion noted that too many crisis in the country is capable of worsening the economic problems in the country and made an appeal on all sides to wait on the CDS and other security agencies to bring justice to bear.

According to him “Nigerians must learn how to tolerate each other. The Chief of Defence already promised that the perpetrators will be brought to justice. Hence we must not take laws into our hands.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria under the able leadership of General Chris Musa has enough in their hands. We must not stretch the security agencies.

“No country thrive where there is persistent security challenge. The tensions is not good for the country.

“We urge those affected by the killings to remain calm and wait on the vow of the CDS,” UAG added in urging restraint following the killings in Uromi with a plea that the military is up the task of securing the naiton.
