Craig Ainsworth Beckham Bodyguard

Craig Ainsworth, a former bodyguard for the Beckhams and ex-Royal Marine, has tragically passed away in Spain. His mother, Sally, confirmed the news over the weekend after she had issued an urgent appeal for information about her missing son.

Craig Ainsworth had been struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and had shared a final message on Facebook, bidding goodbye to his loved ones. Sally had previously revealed that police were focusing their search for him in Alicante and the Barcelona area.

In her social media update, Sally wrote, “Craig has been found. With the greatest sadness the world has lost Craig. He served in Afghanistan and he had PTSD.” She posted a photo of Craig in his military uniform with the simple message, “RIP Craig.” In his final Facebook post, Craig shared his immense pain, writing, “I lost some genuinely amazing humans I was proud to call friends and colleagues,” referring to the loss of friends during the pandemic.

At the time of his death, Craig, believed to be 40 years old, had been reflecting on his struggles since the pandemic. He had written, “Lockdown destroyed everything I had built,” describing the loss of friends and colleagues, as well as the personal pain he had been enduring. In a farewell message, he quoted Oscar Wilde, saying, “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.” He continued, “I’ve been in agony but strived to project positivity into the world and help others.”

Craig Ainsworth had also written a heartfelt note to his dogs, Lilo and Stitch, saying, “I’m sorry to abandon you, it breaks my heart but I will see you both on the other side where we can play forever x.” He had shared his life story in a biography titled The Discombobulated Alpha, published in October 2023. The book reflected his journey from a bullied London lad to a battle-hardened Royal Marine, bodyguard, and personal transformation coach.

After leaving the military, Craig worked as a coach and founded Virtuous Savage, a community dedicated to helping people overcome mental health struggles. He also worked on building resilience under pressure and supporting others in their personal growth. Craig had been employed by the Beckhams between 2013 and 2015, where he worked under a US security firm. He recalled his time with David and Victoria Beckham, describing David as charming and Victoria as a dedicated mother.

Although Craig had worked for high-profile clients, including Hollywood stars, it is not immediately clear where or how he was found in Spain. His passing has prompted tributes from colleagues and friends, with many expressing sorrow for his loss and honoring his service as a Royal Marine.
