Southampton Manager Relegation Leave

Ivan Juric is set to leave his position as Southampton’s head coach after the club’s early relegation from the Premier League.

Southampton’s relegation to the Championship was confirmed after a 3-1 loss to Tottenham, making them the fastest team to be relegated in Premier League history. Juric, who was brought in as a replacement for Russell Martin in December, will part ways with the club after a difficult stint.

Under Juric’s leadership, Southampton has struggled significantly, earning only one win since he took charge. Despite having players like Aaron Ramsdale, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, and Kyle Walker-Peters in the squad, Juric has been unable to turn things around for Southamption who suffered relegation with seven games still to play in the season.

After the relegation was confirmed, Juric shared his thoughts on the situation, saying, “For me, this is something completely new, a new experience. I said to the players they have to be really thankful that they have fans like this. It is something incredible the way they love their team even though we were relegated. They really deserve much more. It’s another type of culture [to Italy]. They show love in this moment; it is a great thing in English culture, Southampton culture.”

With Southampton still on just 10 points, the club will likely start the painful rebuilding process without Juric following the relegation. Although they are relegated, they will aim to earn a few more points in the remaining matches before their time in the Premier League officially ends in May.
