Declan Rice scored twice with stunning free-kicks as Arsenal defeated Real Madrid 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Arsenal recorded a remarkable 3-0 win over Real Madrid in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners had a wonderful night in front of their fans as Declan Rice became the hero of the match. The English midfielder scored two fantastic goals from free-kicks, giving his team a strong advantage in the tie.

Real Madrid started the game with some attacking threats. Vinicius Junior almost punished Arsenal early after intercepting a poor pass from Bukayo Saka, but defender William Saliba stopped him in time.

After settling into the game, Arsenal began to dominate possession and create chances. Thomas Partey forced a good save from Madrid’s goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, with a long-range shot.

In the second half, Real Madrid’s star Kylian Mbappe went close but could not find the net. Soon after, Declan Rice stole the spotlight with two brilliant free-kick goals that left Courtois helpless.

Mikel Merino added Arsenal’s third goal with a fine strike from outside the box, making it a perfect night for Mikel Arteta’s team.

Real Madrid’s troubles increased when Eduardo Camavinga was shown a red card late in the game. The Spanish giants will now need a miracle in the second leg to progress.

Declan Rice was named the best player of the match for his outstanding performance.
