Davido Reveals 50 Cent Once Rejected His Request For A Photo

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Davido, has shared a memorable story about how American rapper 50 Cent once turned down his request for a photo.

The incident occurred when Davido was a teenager, and his family was in Las Vegas for his older brother’s birthday. It was there that he had the chance to meet 50 Cent.

Davido explained that he had approached 50 Cent for a picture, but the rapper refused. He recalled, “The first time I ever saw 50 Cent, I was a kid in Vegas. I was like ‘can I have a picture’, he said, ‘No.’” At the time, Davido was just 14 years old and couldn’t join in the adult celebrations going on around him. He remembered sitting in the lobby while his family enjoyed the festivities. Davido, who was a fan of Lloyd Banks, took a picture with him when he saw him.

Later, when he encountered 50 Cent, Davido approached him excitedly, saying, “Wow! 50 Cent, I love you. Can I have a picture?” However, 50 Cent simply replied, “No,” and walked off.

Years later, after Davido had become a successful music star, he reminded 50 Cent of the incident. Davido said, “I told him about the incident years later when we met as colleagues and he said, ‘You are here now, right?’ [Laughs].”

In a surprising turn of events, 50 Cent invited Davido as a guest performer at his show at Madison Square Garden in New York. Now, the two artistes are set to co-headline a concert in London later this year, alongside Mary J. Blige.
