NYSC Three-Month Service Extension

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed claims circulating online that the service year has been extended by three months.

Some reports had alleged that from the 2025 Batch A, Stream 1, corps members would have to serve for an extra three months. It was also claimed that this extension followed a recent policy review, and that new call-up numbers, letters, and orientation dates would soon be released.

But reacting through its official Facebook page on Wednesday, the NYSC described the report as false, urging the public to disregard it.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Youth, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, has called on the NYSC management to make adjustments to its program to allow corps members get enough rest during their 21-day orientation camp.

The minister made this suggestion during the 2025 annual management conference held in Abuja on Monday, with the theme: “Transforming the NYSC Scheme to Address the Needs of Modern Nigerian Graduates and Society.”

Olawande proposed that camp activities should begin around 7:00 am instead of the usual 4:00 am to give corps members better rest and improve their participation in camp programs.

He noted that talks were already ongoing to implement this idea, stressing that his focus remains on the welfare of Nigerian youths.
