The Federal Government has directed all federal tertiary institutions across the country to publicly announce any job vacancies before recruiting new staff.

This directive, issued by the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, is part of the government’s renewed effort to promote transparency, fairness, and competitiveness in the recruitment process within the education sector.

According to the new guideline, all federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education are now required to advertise job openings in at least one national daily newspaper, on their official websites, and other relevant academic or professional platforms.

Dr. Alausa emphasized that the move aims to eliminate secretive employment practices and ensure that every qualified Nigerian has a fair opportunity to apply for available positions.

The Ministry also stated that any institution seeking to recruit must first secure formal approval, which will be granted based on the institution’s actual staffing needs.

The government issued a stern warning that any federal tertiary institution that fails to comply with this directive will face strict disciplinary actions.
