By Benjamin Abioye

A Nigerian lady has been exposed for impersonating her friend on a hookup site, leading to outrage online and anger from the victim’s family members.
A young Nigerian lady has landed herself in trouble after being caught impersonating her friend on a hookup site.
In a video shared on social media platform X, the lady was seen sitting on the ground while being questioned by people off-camera. During the interrogation, she admitted to using her friend’s picture to engage in hookup activities online.
The man behind the camera expressed disappointment, explaining that her actions had caused serious problems. According to him, the lady’s friend is now facing rejection and hatred from her family members, who believe she is the one involved in the hookup business.
The lady, however, pleaded for forgiveness, saying she was sorry for what she did. She begged her friend’s family not to be angry with her friend, insisting she was the one responsible for the act. “I will not do it again,” she promised.
This incident has attracted many reactions online, with several people expressing their anger and disappointment.
A user, Firdaousi, said, “Naso person impersonate my babe too that time… if not that I’m understanding, I for don pursue am.”
Omotayo Solomon Ayodeji commented, “That’s their normal way of survival now. If it’s not hookup, it’s impersonating another.”
Another user, AMARA, described the lady’s tears as fake, saying, “Shedding crocodile tears.”
Many also condemned her for damaging her friend’s reputation. Starlove said, “Very bad. She’s spoiling the image of her friend.”

Others shared their shock at the existence of hookup sites. Legendary Photographer wrote, “Hook-up site too don dey? Ooomo. Na dating site we sabi o.”
Some users expressed their anger and suggested punishment for the lady. Hadeejat wrote, “This is wickedness, tarnishing others for your gain.”
Chioma also called for punishment, saying, “She should be punished so others can learn and hopefully desist from this nonsense.”
While a few people believed the situation could have been handled privately, most insisted that impersonating someone for fraud or hookup is both wicked and dangerous.
One user, Temi, warned that forgiving her easily might encourage her to repeat the act. “She needs to be taught a serious lesson because she will still do it again if they forgive her,” she said.
In general, the incident has stirred strong emotions online, with many condemning the act of impersonation and urging young people to avoid tarnishing other people’s images for selfish gains.
