APC, PDP Fight Dirty Over Tinubu/Adeleke Billboard
By Benjamin Abioye

The political climate in Osun State has grown tense following the erection of a controversial billboard featuring both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The billboard, which carries the slogan “Continuity of Progress,” was reportedly installed in Iwo town early on Wednesday morning. It is attributed to a group called “Osun Leaders of Thought.” The sign sparked immediate backlash and has fueled a dispute between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Adeleke’s administration.
The APC was quick to react, with the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, condemning the billboard as a “fraudulent political stunt.” Olabisi expressed concerns that the billboard could mislead the public into believing there was a political alignment between President Tinubu and Governor Adeleke. He called the billboard an example of “dirty politics taken too far” and stated there was no legitimate reason for its sponsorship. In a statement, Olabisi further described the display as both an “eyesore” and an act of “political heresy.”
According to the APC, the campaign behind the billboard was orchestrated by unnamed individuals attempting to create a false connection between the President and the PDP-led state government. The party strongly condemned the action, dismissing it as an intentional ploy to confuse the public.
In response, Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, fired back at the APC, accusing the opposition party of a crisis of integrity and of being unsettled by the growing support for the governor. Rasheed argued that the opposition was scrambling to find a response to the increasing popularity of Adeleke, particularly due to recent achievements. He pointed to the governor’s efforts in cultural tourism, such as the partnership with the British Museum, and his work with the Nigeria-UK Chamber of Commerce as examples of Adeleke’s rising influence.
Rasheed also highlighted various endorsements from both federal and non-governmental organizations as proof of the governor’s growing approval. He accused the APC of spreading misinformation and struggling to cope with its declining credibility. “The opposition is therefore running amok, ranting over billboards,” Rasheed remarked, further dismissing the APC’s criticisms as a reaction to the increasing support for Adeleke across party lines.
