Senator Ehigie Uzamere who made history as the first Edo South Senator to win re-election has commiserated with Emmanuel Aziken, publisher of GWG.ng over the death of his mother, Madam Helen Erina Aziken.

Speaking in a telephone call to the GWG.ng publisher, Senator Uzamere, nevertheless, expressed surprise that the news was not communicated to him.

“Did you lose anyone,” the redoubtable political figure said somberely after initiating a call.

On being told of the death of his mother, he expressed surprise at not being told since.

“Emma, I am surprised that this happened and you didn’t tell me. Don’t you know that I have to be at Agbor (for the funeral)” Senator Uzamere, architect turned businessman and politician charged.

“I condole with you and express my deep sympathies over the death,” Senator Uzamere said as he consoled with the bereaved publisher over the death of his mother, Helen Aziken.

GWG.ng reports that besides being the first Benin senator to win re-election albeit on the platform of two different political parties, Senator Uzamere lives in Nigerian political folklore for masterminding the National Interest Group, the constellation of about 85 senators which catalysed the emergence of Dr Goodluck Jonathan as Acting President in 2010.

GWG.ng reports that Madam Helen Aziken died on Sunday, March 23 at Heartland Cardiovascular Consultants, Asokoro, Abuja where she had received therapy over the past eight years for a heart condition.

Born in Alisor, Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, the late Helen Aziken was a dedicated merchant, housewife and mother to Chukwudi (deceased), Emmanuel, Gladys Ozor, Chukwuekwu Oyema Aziken, Grace Ojji and step-mother to Mrs. Oshi Okeosisi, Augustine Oyema-Aziken, Monday Aziken and Julie Ndidi Ogboi.

A dedicated doyenne of the Aziken stock of Omumu, Agbor, Helen Erina Aziken is remembered for her inspirational instructorship of many within and outside the family loop including Benard Aziken, erstwhile chairman of Ika Local Government Area, Frank Aziken, a retired school principal, late Apostle John Aziken, among many others.
