VeryDarkMan Funding New Video For Banned Anti-Seyi Tinubu Song
By Benjamin Abioye

Controversial social media personality Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has revealed his plans to fund a new music video for the protest song “Tell Your Papa,” which was recently banned by the Nigerian government.
The controversial song, Tell Your Papa was banned on Thursday by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), which labeled it offensive and inappropriate and with it attracting the sharp response of VeryDarkman.
The ban has ironically drawn more attention to the song, which had previously not gained widespread attention. In response, VeryDarkMan criticized the Nigerian government for blocking the song, Tell Your Paapa from being aired on radio and television. He defended the song’s message, saying its lyrics reflect the truth about the country’s current situation.
In a video shared on his social media, VeryDarkMan expressed his intention to collaborate with Eedris Abdulkareem, the artist behind the song. He mentioned that they would remake the music video and include a lookalike of President Tinubu since they are unable to feature the actual president in the video.
VeryDarkMan explained, “I went to Eedris Abdulkareem’s page and saw the message NBC sent to him saying they had banned his song, ‘Tell Your Papa,’ in which he told Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, to inform his father about the hardship and the people dying in the country. The government doesn’t want to hear it on the stations because they know it’s the truth. Isn’t there hardship in the country? Aren’t people dying from insecurity?”
He added, “This is what we are going to do now. First of all, we don’t even know radio. How many people still listen to radio or watch TV? We are going to take it over by social media.”
VeryDarkMan also stated that he would sponsor the new video, titled “Tell Your Papa 2,” and that they would highlight additional societal issues. He emphasized that the ban is an attempt to suppress public voices, saying, “They hear what’s going on in Nigeria, but they don’t want to act. Then when you speak, they want to control the media so you don’t have a voice and your voice doesn’t go beyond what they can control.”
