Reactions As Private School Sacks Unmarried Pregnant Teacher
By Gideon Ayeni

A private school has come under fire after reportedly sacking a female teacher for getting pregnant out of wedlock, claiming she would be a “bad influence” on students.
The incident was shared anonymously on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) through a post addressed to influencer @Wizarab10. According to the narrator, the teacher in question was dismissed from her position solely because she became pregnant before marriage.
The school management allegedly justified their decision by expressing concerns that her situation could negatively impact the moral values of their female students.
“Please is it right for a private school to sack an unmarried teacher because she is pregnant, saying she is a bad influence on the female students? Your opinions please,” the viral post read.
The revelation has created outrage and mixed reactions online, with many netizens questioning the ethics and legality of the school’s decision, while others debated the societal pressures placed on women regarding morality and motherhood.
Read some netizens’ reactions below;
@Justawwall: “Private schools are so funny. How does a teacher private life affects or influence her work life. What if she’s married but didn’t notify her school? Smh”
@cletusmyles2020: “If na me I go Fire you and not pay you if you still have balance with me 🤣🤣”
@EnemuoJohn3794: “Who tell the students say she never marry? If I talk where the school dey now dem go say Na bigotry 😂😂 By calculation I don know the zone the school dey”
@G_Gerrard008: “I understand all these moral talks, but, is she not an adult? So her life should pause because she’s teaching. 99% of adults indulge in sexual activities before getting married so which come be bad example? The school already teaches them to not indulge in such as an underage.”
@dabuthegemini: “Yes it is. Getting pregnant out of wedlock isn’t something young ladies should see as a norm. It’s not right. Single mothers today if given a choice would have rather not given birth no matter how much they love the child now.
