The Benue State Government has declared Thursday, Friday, and Monday as public holidays to enable residents fully participate in the Easter celebrations.

The announcement was made by Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, who emphasized the importance of the Easter Triduum in the Christian faith. According to him, the extended holiday will allow workers and residents ample time for spiritual reflection, family bonding, and personal rejuvenation.

A statement issued from the Government House in Makurdi confirmed that all government offices, ministries, departments, and agencies across the state will be closed during the three-day period.

Governor Alia, a former Catholic priest, underscored the spiritual significance of the Easter season, describing it as a time of deep reflection on the sacrifice of Christ and a moment to strengthen family ties.

He also extended warm Easter greetings to Christians in Benue State and across Nigeria, encouraging them to remain steadfast in their faith and return from the break reenergized to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.
