Peter Obi Hails Northern Traditional Rulers’ Stance On Insecurity

2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has commended Northern traditional rulers for their courageous stance against the worsening insecurity plaguing the region and Nigeria at large.
Obi was reacting to the recent joint declaration by the royal fathers, in which they boldly declared “Enough is Enough” regarding the continuous killings, kidnappings, and unrest ravaging communities in the North.
In a heartfelt post shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Obi praised the monarchs for speaking up at such a critical time. He described their intervention as timely and courageous, noting that their leadership could serve as a catalyst for national healing and coordinated action.
“The bravery shown by our royal fathers is what the country urgently needs. Their collective voice is a powerful call to end the bloodshed and restore peace across Nigeria,” Obi wrote.
He emphasized the importance of the traditional rulers’ message, saying it highlighted the urgent need for concrete steps from both state and federal governments. According to him, the monarchs’ proximity to the grassroots makes them critical partners in crafting lasting security solutions.
Obi also urged political leaders across all levels to collaborate with the traditional institutions, stressing that their experience, wisdom, and deep-rooted connection to the people make them invaluable allies in the fight against insecurity.
“Their concern and willingness to guide their respective governors is commendable. This should inspire all of us, beyond political divides, to come together and tackle the root causes of Nigeria’s many challenges,” he added.
The former Anambra governor concluded by calling for unity, cooperation, and inclusive governance, stressing that only through collective effort can Nigeria become a safer, more just, and prosperous nation.
