Manchester City Leave It Late To Beat Everton 2-0
By Benjamin Abioye

Manchester City left it late but eventually broke down Everton with two quick goals to grab a crucial 2-0 win at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.
For most of the game, it was a tough and tight contest. The first half didn’t offer much excitement, with both sides struggling to create anything really clear-cut. Everton had a big chance early on when James Tarkowski’s header from a corner smashed against the post. A few minutes later, City almost scored, but Jake O’Brien pulled off a brilliant clearance to deny Kevin De Bruyne, whose shot was heading straight for the net.
As the match ticked past the hour mark, it started to feel like one of those days for City. They had plenty of the ball but couldn’t make much of it, while Everton stayed compact and looked to frustrate them. Jordan Pickford pulled off a couple of smart saves late in the game, first from Savinho and then from Omar Marmoush.
But in the 84th minute, the deadlock was finally broken. City substitute Nico O’Reilly was in the right place at the right time to tap home after a slick move, giving the visitors a long-awaited lead. It was a breakthrough that seemed to spark City into life.
From then on, there was no looking back. Everton couldn’t find a way to respond, and in stoppage time, Mateo Kovacic finished things off with a classy strike from the edge of the box, sealing all three points for Pep Guardiola’s side.
The result lifts Manchester City into fourth place, at least temporarily, keeping their Champions League hopes well alive as the season enters its final stretch. With just a few games left, every point counts — and this one felt especially hard-earned.
Player of the Match:
Stefan Ortega (Manchester City) – The goalkeeper stood tall throughout the match, keeping Everton out and giving his team the platform to go on and win.
