“I’ve Served 15 Years And Still Can’t Afford A Car” — FRSC Officer Laments (Video)
By Gideon Ayeni

A heart-touching encounter between a Nigerian road user and a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer has created mixed reactions after a video of their conversation surfaced online.
In the trending clip, a young man driving along a Nigerian road was seen engaging in a light-hearted conversation with a road safety officer stationed along his route.
The road safety officer, in a jovial tone, greeted the motorist and jokingly expressed his admiration, saying he aspired to be like him — a “rich man.” Laughing modestly, the young driver replied that he was only managing his situation, implying that appearances could be deceiving.
However, the conversation soon took an emotional turn when the officer candidly revealed the personal struggles he has faced despite over a decade of service.
“I have been a Nigerian Road Safety Officer for over 15 years,” the officer said. “My dream was to buy a small Golf car. I was saving up when the car cost around N1 million. Today, that same car is over N3 million, and I still can’t afford it. Things are even getting harder in Nigeria.”

The video has since generated massive reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing sympathy for the officer and lamenting the harsh economic realities facing workers across the country.
While the officer’s identity remains unknown, his story revealed the declining purchasing power of Nigerian workers, inflation, and the need for urgent economic reforms.
