By Gideon Ayeni

Nigerian actress and model Annie Macaulay Idibia has sparked conversation online after declaring her children as the only family she has, following her public separation from music legend 2Face Idibia.
Annie, who made a striking appearance at the 17th Headies Awards held Sunday night at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, openly referred to herself as a single woman while addressing the crowd on stage.
In a subtle dig at her estranged husband, Annie introduced herself by saying, “My name is Annie Idi—oh sorry, Annie Macaulay. Hey, single ladies!”—a moment that quickly went viral and set social media abuzz.
The actress, when asked by a reporter at the event about her family, responded with clarity and emotion. “You mean my children? My children dey kampe. The first one dey Yankee, she dey go school. No play with that girl o. I don’t play with my kids. Na them be my backbone,” she said in a heartfelt mix of Pidgin and English.
Annie was referring to her daughters, Isabella and Olivia, whom she described as the core of her strength amid the turbulence in her personal life.
Her comments came just a day after 2Face Idibia reportedly introduced a new woman, Natasha, to his mother—further fueling reports that the couple’s longtime relationship has reached an end.
Annie’s bold declarations at the Headies have continued to stir conversations, with many praising her resilience and devotion to her children.
