Drama As Church Cancels Wedding On D-Day
By Gideon Ayeni

A wedding scheduled to take place at the Assemblies of God Church, Okpu 2, in Aba, Abia State, ended abruptly after the bride-to-be reportedly declined to spend the night at the church’s parsonage, a key requirement of the church’s marriage doctrine.
According to sources, the church’s long-standing policy mandates that brides sleep at the residence of the host pastor the night before the wedding. This tradition is said to be aimed at facilitating a blood pregnancy test on the wedding morning, to ensure the bride is not pregnant before exchanging vows.
However, the bride refused to comply with the directive, prompting the church leadership to call off the ceremony—despite guests already being seated and prepared for the day’s proceedings.
The incident has since sent the social media abuzz, with many questioning the necessity of such policies in modern times.
As of press time, church authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the controversy.
