Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has revealed the reason behind the interruption of his speech during the 17th Headies Awards ceremony.

According to him, the microphone was cut off while he was talking about Jesus Christ.

In a post shared on his X account, Odumodublvck suggested that if he had mentioned Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu instead, the organizers would not have interrupted him. He said, “I was talking about Jesus and they tried to shut me down. I am hundred percent sure that if I was talking about His Excellency Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu I would not have been cut off.”

Despite the incident, he stressed that he holds no grudge against the award organizers. In fact, he appreciated the fact that his microphone was eventually turned back on. “I genuinely have no bad blood towards the Headies, rather, I am grateful they put my mic back on to spread the gospel,” he added.

He concluded with a strong message of faith, saying, “Jesus is king. He is before now and forever.”

Meanwhile, content creator and musician Carter Efe has criticized the Headies Awards organizers for including the late singer Mohbad among the nominees. In his opinion, the nomination was simply a publicity move.

Mohbad was posthumously nominated in two categories: Best Street-Hop Artiste of the Year and Viewers’ Choice Award, based on his collaboration with Chike. His widow, Omowunmi, and their son accepted the award in Lagos on Sunday.

Carter Efe, reacting in a video posted on social media, questioned the motive behind the gesture. He said in Pidgin, “Why Headies dey misbehave now, them go dey nominate Mohbad? Wetin make them nominate Mohbad? But when the boy was alive them no go give am o. Anything for the clout na him Headies go dey do.”

Mohbad passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances and has not yet been laid to rest.
