May D has shared a photo from a hospital bed, thanking God for life, sparking both sympathy and mixed reactions from fans online.

Nigerian artiste Akinmayokun Awodumila, popularly known as May D, sparked widespread attention online after revealing he recently survived a health scare.

The singer shared a photo of himself lying on a hospital bed, hooked up to IV fluids. Alongside the image, he simply wrote: “Thanking God for life,” expressing gratitude for surviving the situation.

Following the post, a mix of reactions flooded social media. While many fans sent him prayers and well wishes, others were skeptical and even mocking. Some questioned the authenticity of his health scare, while a few blamed his lifestyle for the incident.

A Twitter user said: “Omoh the picture sef be like whining, but what do I know. I pray for your quick recovery.” Another wrote: “His lips are so dark, too much smoke.”* One tweet read: “If you fake your own death, you fit still no blow!”

Among the many voices, one user shared a hopeful message: “Whatever is meant for evil, may God turn it for your good. You will live to declare the goodness of God.” Another encouraged him not to give up on his music career, tweeting: “If @youngskales as it is fit mount a comeback, there is still hope for you. Make you no just give up.. the sky is big enough for a comeback and a dying career, get well soon.”

The comments didn’t stop there. @iamsolidfox tweeted: “IF NA SMOKE TELL US O, SO THAT MAKE WHO DEY SMOKE STOP BECAUSE NA YOU AND @DAVIDO LUNGS WE DEY REALLY LOOK UP TO. GET WELL SOON BOSS!”

@Dang_Doge1 wrote: “Make hunger no go kill you oh ur Oga dey give you food chow at all?” and @justlyabel said: “Oya, make I pray for you, open your hands ✋, the healing of God will touch you, Amen. But learn to calm down with WizkidFC, God be with you brother.”

Others chipped in with jokes and lighthearted advice. @danievince23 tweeted: “You sef why you go dey listen to 5ive? God don commot you for this one if you like no get sense next time.” @sayhi_to_ike joked: “Omo my bro leave that Scottish bush you dey smoke see your lips… no go die ohhh smoke good smoke good cana.”

Meanwhile, @77bilion repeated their prayerful message, “Whatever is meant for evil, may God turn it for your good. You will live to declare the goodness of God.”

Despite the mixed tone of reactions—from concern to sarcasm—many Nigerians remain hopeful that May D will make a full recovery and possibly a strong return to music.
