Saida Boj Under Fire Over Comments On VDM Arrest (Video)
By Benjamin Abioye

A Nigerian woman has called out Saida Boj for refusing to support VDM after his arrest by the EFCC, emphasizing the importance of due process and the fight against police brutality.
Controversial influencer Saida Boj has found herself in the center of yet another firestorm, this time over comments she made regarding the recent arrest of outspoken activist and social media critic, VeryDarkMan (VDM).
Following reports of VDM’s detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), several Nigerian celebrities and influencers took to social media to demand due process and transparency. However, Saida Boj diverged from the wave of support, stating that she would not be joining the online advocacy, citing VDM’s past ingratitude.
In a now-deleted video, Saida claimed she received numerous calls asking her to speak out about VDM’s arrest, but she refused, arguing that during his previous detention, she publicly supported him, and he never showed appreciation. She described him as “ungrateful,” implying she had no obligation to lend her voice again.
This statement provoked a strong response from a Nigerian woman whose video rebuttal has since gone viral, despite being taken down from various platforms. In her passionate speech, the woman scolded Saida Boj for making the issue about herself instead of focusing on the core concern: police misconduct and the abuse of power in Nigeria.
“Saida Boj, take the back seat. In fact, keep moving… go outside. Stay by the window because I need to educate you,” she began.
The woman clarified that the growing support for VDM was not based on personal admiration but on the principle that due process was not followed during his arrest.
“It is about police brutality. It’s about people weaponizing the police force and the EFCC against Nigerian citizens,” she emphasized.
She went on to highlight VDM’s past humanitarian efforts, specifically citing his role in rescuing underage girls who had been trafficked to other African countries—a contribution that, according to her, Saida never acknowledged.
“Voice of the girl child? You don’t even know what that means,” she said, questioning Saida’s credibility as an advocate for women.
She also criticized what she described as Saida’s entitlement and ego-driven mindset.
“What is this entitlement mentality I’m seeing all over social media? You thinking your voice alone can make an impact is laughable.”
The woman concluded by firmly stating that Saida’s voice had become irrelevant in the current discourse.
“Remain outside while this is over. If you want education, I’ll educate you. More wisdom.”
This incident has sparked widespread debate across Nigerian social media, with some defending Saida’s right to her opinion, while others argue that her comments were ill-timed and self-centered, especially in light of the serious human rights concerns at stake. The woman’s sharp response to Saida Boj has refocused attention on VDM’s arrest and the broader issues surrounding police misuse and public accountability.
As of the time of this report, VeryDarkMan remains in EFCC custody, and calls for transparency and adherence to due legal process continue to grow louder.
