Tension As India Launches Missile Attacks On Pakistan
By Benjamin Abioye

Pakistan has vowed a response after India launched missile strikes on six locations in Pakistan that killed at least 8 people and with it raising tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations.
India’s military has launched a new operation, called “Operation Sindoor,” targeting nine locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
According to Pakistan, the Indian missile attacks on six sites have resulted in the deaths of at least eight people and left over 35 others injured. In response, Pakistan has vowed to retaliate strongly, labeling the strikes as an “act of war.” The Indian military declared that “Justice is served” after the missiles were fired.
The conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations has been intensifying since a deadly attack in Indian-administered Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, which India has blamed on Pakistan. Pakistan has denied any involvement in the attack.
As tensions continue to rise, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been in contact with the national security advisors of both India and Pakistan. He has urged both countries to keep communication lines open and avoid further escalation, with the hope of a peaceful resolution.
Meanwhile, the situation has led to exchanges of heavy fire along the Line of Control separating Indian and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Indian sources have reported that three civilians were injured by Pakistani shelling, and an unidentified aircraft has reportedly crashed into a school building in the region. There have also been conflicting reports about the downing of Indian warplanes during overnight clashes.
U.S. Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen has expressed concern over the escalation, urging both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and focus on diplomacy. She emphasized that the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks in India on April 22 should be brought to justice as soon as possible.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the Indian missile attacks as an “unprovoked and blatant act of war” that resulted in civilian casualties. The ministry has called India’s actions a violation of international law and warned of the potential for a major conflict. Pakistan has vowed to respond appropriately to the aggression, asserting its right to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In light of the escalating violence, Pakistan’s Prime Minister condemned India’s actions as “cowardly,” reaffirming the nation’s right to respond decisively. Pakistani officials have claimed that their military has already shot down several Indian planes in retaliation. Additionally, airspace disruptions have occurred, with several airlines suspending or rerouting flights due to the ongoing conflict. The Pakistani government has also closed schools in Punjab province for public safety.
As the situation remains fluid, both nations are bracing for further developments, with the international community urging both sides to de-escalate tensions before a full-scale conflict erupts.
