Arsenal’s Legend Faces Legal Woes After Divorce

Arsenal’s legendary goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has divorced his wife of 25 years, Conny, after a string of controversies including drink-driving and property damage.

Former German football goalkeeper Jens Lehmann and his wife Conny have officially ended their marriage after 25 years together.

Conny confirmed their divorce, saying, “I’m single. I’m a happy single,” although she chose not to share further details about their relationship.

The couple had been living apart for some time before finalizing the separation. Conny had moved out of their villa in Starnberg, which was later put on the market in January for €12.9 million (£10.9 million).

Their split follows a series of controversies involving Lehmann over the past year. In September, during Germany’s Oktoberfest, he was pulled over by police for alleged drink-driving. He reportedly vomited multiple times, struggled to walk, and had a strong smell of alcohol. According to reports, officers had to take him to a police station for further tests after he failed to complete a breath test on the spot. His driver’s licence was confiscated, and he now faces a trial after appealing a £60,000 fine.

Lehmann, 55, was also previously fined £112,500 by a German court after being found guilty of property damage and attempted fraud. In 2022, he had used a chainsaw to cut through the roof beams of his neighbour’s newly built garage. He later reached a private settlement with the neighbour to resolve the matter.

Despite their differences, Conny and Lehmann were seen together on a family vacation last summer, reportedly for the sake of their children. They share two children, Mats and Lieselotta, and Lehmann had also adopted Conny’s child from a previous relationship.

Conny, 52, was known to be a supportive partner during Lehmann’s football career, which included over 200 appearances for Arsenal. However, the couple grew apart in recent years and have rarely appeared together in public.

Their divorce marks the end of a long relationship that began in 1995 and officially started in 1999 when they got married in October of that year.
