Former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan has made it clear she has no intention of returning to Aso Rock, declaring her full support for current First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, and by extension, President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

Speaking on Saturday night at the Women Icon Leader of the Year 2025 award ceremony organized by Accolade Dynamics Limited in Abuja, Jonathan said she is enjoying her peace and has no desire to return to the seat of power.

“I’m not running. I’m not going back to the villa. If you call me, I will not go,” she said, drawing laughter from the audience.

Patience Jonathan emphasized her belief in leadership rotation and the importance of supporting whoever holds office during their time.
“I believe in one president. I believe in turn-by-turn. When it’s your turn, I will support you. When it’s not your turn, step back—so that the country can move forward,” she said.

She also showered praises on Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, daughter of President Tinubu and the Iyaloja of Lagos, commending her for empowering women and urging her to keep engaging them.

“All the way, we are with you. No shaking. We will follow. Direct us, and we will follow,” she declared, reinforcing her endorsement of the Tinubu administration.

Jonathan described Remi Tinubu as a longstanding friend, recalling their time as governor’s and deputy governor’s wives when their husbands served in Lagos and Bayelsa respectively. She said their friendship has remained strong, and she is not about to abandon it now.

“I stand by my friend. My friend is great. I told her I would campaign with her. I’m not denying her,” she said, adding jokingly that she now enjoys teasing Remi just as the latter once did when she (Jonathan) was in office.

The former First Lady attributed her youthful looks and happiness to the peace she now enjoys away from the pressures of politics.
