Former senator and media mogul, Ben Murray-Bruce, has stirred up conversation online after revealing that Nigerian music icon, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is deeply interested in politics and may one day vie for the governorship of Osun State.

In a statement that has quickly gone viral, Murray-Bruce described Davido not only as a global superstar and cultural export, but also as a “political animal” with clear ideological convictions—a revelation he said came during a private conversation with the artiste.

“Davido is undeniably an international artist and a true Nigerian superstar,” the former senator said. “But beneath the surface of this music icon lies a side that many may not be aware of. He is a political animal with well-defined ideological leanings.”

Murray-Bruce suggested that Davido’s political ambition should come as no surprise, considering the prominent role of the Adeleke family in Osun State politics. The singer’s uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is the current Governor of Osun State, while another uncle, the late Isiaka Adeleke, previously served as governor during the military era under General Ibrahim Babangida.
