Anyanwu As National Secretary Endorses PDP’s Candidate For Anambra Guber To INEC

Senator Samuel Anyanwu, in his role as PDP’s National Secretary, has signed the official submission to INEC, confirming Ezenwafor Jude as the party’s candidate for Anambra’s 2025 governorship election.
In a move that puts ongoing internal party wranglings into clearer perspective, Senator Samuel N Anyanwu has signed the official submission of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for the 2025 Anambra election, confirming his position as the party’s National Secretary.
The letter, dated May 7, 2025, and addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was co-signed by Senator Anyanwu and the PDP Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum. It formally submitted Ezenwafor Jude C as the party’s candidate and Hon Okeke Francis Chukwudi as his running mate for the November 8 governorship poll.
Despite recent reports that some PDP governors had named a new acting secretary, this submission, endorsed by both the chairman and Senator Anyanwu, signals that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) still recognises Anyanwu as the legitimate National Secretary.
Observers say this action may be the party’s calculated attempt to avoid internal legal disputes or disqualification issues ahead of the critical Anambra election.
In another development, Sam Amadi, former chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, has condemned the ongoing attacks on Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate.
Amadi criticized the increasing pattern of attacks by senior government officials on Obi, calling it unnecessary and unwarranted.
In a post on his X account, Amadi pointed out that it has become a regular trend for the current administration to target Obi, despite Obi’s consistent focus on the country’s pressing socio-economic issues, rather than engaging in personal politics. He expressed concern over how the political elite, including officials from the Presidency, Lagos State Governor, and Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, have directed sharp criticisms toward Obi.
Amadi stressed that while these officials invest considerable energy in attacking Obi, the former governor remains focused on addressing Nigeria’s structural challenges. Obi’s consistent message has been about the urgent need for reform and national renewal, he said.
Amadi further stated, “If elections were a purely rational exercise, Peter Obi is so far the only candidate who ought to be elected.” He lamented the excessive attention given to Obi by high-ranking government figures, noting that Obi has refrained from personal attacks. Instead, he has consistently promoted a vision based on prudence, accountability, and economic revitalization for the country.
