Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen delivered a stellar performance on Wednesday night, scoring twice to lead Galatasaray to a commanding 3-0 victory over Trabzonspor in the 2024/25 Turkish Cup final at the Gaziantep Stadium.

Osimhen’s second-half brace sealed the win for the Turkish giants, marking his first trophy with the club since joining last summer in a high-profile move.

Galatasaray took an early lead in the 5th minute through Baris Yilmaz, who finished off a brilliant attacking move initiated by Osimhen and capped with a precise assist from Yunus Akgun.

After the break, Osimhen took center stage. In the 50th minute, he shrugged off his marker to collect a through ball from Akgun before rifling a low shot past the goalkeeper into the bottom corner. Just 13 minutes later, the Super Eagles forward was on the scoresheet again, tapping home a well-orchestrated counterattack to put the result beyond doubt.

The brace takes Osimhen’s goal tally for the season to an impressive 35 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions — including 24 in the Super Lig, three in the Europa League, and five in the Turkish Cup.

Galatasaray’s latest triumph marks their 19th Turkish Cup title, solidifying their dominance in Turkish football. With five games left in the Super Lig season, they also sit atop the league table, holding an eight-point lead over arch-rivals Fenerbahce.

Osimhen’s heroics have not only earned him silverware but further cemented his status as one of Europe’s most prolific forwards this season.
