VeryDarkMan Arraigned For Insulting Police DIG, NASS Members, Iyabo Ojo, Tonto Dikeh, Others
By Benjamin Abioye

Social media activist VeryDarkMan has been re-arraigned before a Federal High Court over alleged cyberbullying of Iyabo Ojo, Tonto Dikeh, and other public figures.
Social media activist Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja on new cyberbullying charges.
The Nigeria Police Force accused him of cyberbullying several public figures, including actresses Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh.
VDM appeared before Justice Musa Liman on Thursday, May 15, 2025, facing a five-count charge. He pleaded not guilty to all accusations. The police also included music producer Samklef among the people allegedly harassed by VDM online.
This court appearance comes shortly after his release from custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he had been held over separate fraud allegations.
VDM was first arraigned in May 2024 before Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon, who had remanded him. However, he was granted bail on June 10, 2024, with conditions that included a ₦10 million bond and two sureties—either senior federal civil servants or respected private sector professionals who could present three years of tax clearance. After Justice Olajuwon was reassigned to another court division, the case was moved to Justice Liman, now handling it under charge number FHC/ABJ/CR/140/2024.
According to the police, the charges include:
Count 1: On or around October 13, 2023, VDM allegedly shared a video via his Instagram page, @verydarkblackman, making threats and bullying comments directed at Samklef.
Count 2: On October 29, 2023, he reportedly published obscene and offensive videos targeting Iyabo Ojo, claiming she had an inappropriate sexual relationship with her daughter.
Count 3: On January 19, 2024, he was accused of spreading false claims that Tonto Dikeh misused funds meant for the Justice for Mohbad campaign and that she ran the anonymous blog “Gistlover.”
Count 4: On March 19, 2024, VDM allegedly insulted Deputy Inspectors General of Police and members of the National Assembly through online posts.
During the hearing, VDM’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, asked the judge to let his client stay on the same bail terms previously granted. The prosecution, represented by Victor Okoye, did not oppose the request.
Justice Liman accepted the plea and allowed VDM to remain free under the existing bail conditions. The case has been adjourned until July 24, 2025.
