How Barcelona Clinched 29th LaLiga Title
By Benjamin Abioye

Barcelona have secured the LaLiga title following their 2-0 victory over Espanyol, with Yamal’s brilliant goal and late drama marking a memorable night.
Barcelona have been crowned champions of LaLiga after a 2-0 win over Espanyol on Thursday night. They only needed three points from their last three games to secure the title, and they got them at their city rivals’ stadium.
The match was goalless in the first half, but 17-year-old Lamine Yamal scored a beautiful goal just after the break. He got the ball near the right side, cut inside, and curled a powerful shot into the top corner.
Espanyol tried to fight back, but things got worse for them when Leandro Cabrera was sent off after a VAR check. He had elbowed Yamal off the ball. Later in injury time, Fermin Lopez scored the second goal after Yamal set him up.
This win gave Barcelona their 29th league title and took the trophy away from Real Madrid after a strong season. But after the final whistle, things got ugly. Espanyol players seemed angry, and there was some tension between both teams.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick had warned his players not to get carried away. He said before the game:
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to talk or think about celebrations before the game. You have to focus on the game. I saw what happened two years ago on television. Whatever needs to be done, always with respect. You have to fight for the three points, and then we’ll do what’s right.”
When things got heated, Flick was clearly upset and even pushed some players toward the tunnel to avoid more problems. At the same time, Espanyol staff turned on the sprinklers, soaking the Barcelona players, likely in an attempt to ruin their celebrations.
Two years ago, something similar happened at the same stadium when Barcelona last won the title, and the players were chased off the field by fans. Speaking after the match, Flick said:
“I know what the situation is with respect to what happened two years ago and I wanted to celebrate it inside.”
Before the match, there was also a scary moment outside the stadium. A car drove into a group of fans waiting near the entrance. Videos showed the white car moving into the crowd, causing panic. People were screaming, crying, and some had injuries.
Reports said around 15 people were hurt, but luckily none of the injuries were serious. The police believe it was an accident. A woman was arrested, and they think she lost control of the car. Seven ambulances were sent to the scene to help the injured.
Despite all the drama, Barcelona’s season has been amazing. Hansi Flick took over from Xavi and has built a young, exciting team. Players like Yamal, Gavi, Pedri, Pau Cubarsi, and Lopez have played big roles. Yamal has scored eight goals and made 13 assists.
Robert Lewandowski also had a great season with 25 goals, while Raphinha added 18 goals and nine assists. The team even reached the Champions League semi-final. Flick also had to deal with off-pitch problems like signing and registering new players, but he kept the team strong.
Barcelona’s results speak for themselves: they beat Real Madrid twice with a combined score of 8-3 and haven’t lost in 18 matches. Their last defeat came against Atletico Madrid back in December.
This title win is a huge moment for the club and their fans. Despite a rough ending to the night, the team has shown strength and unity all season.
