Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest-paid athlete in 2024, earning $275 million. Messi drops to fifth, while NBA’s Stephen Curry and boxer Tyson Fury make the top three.

Cristiano Ronaldo was the highest-paid athlete in 2024, after earning about $275 million with over $100 million coming from his salary alone.

He has topped the list for the third year in a row. GWG.ng reports that Ronaldo signed a two-year contract with a Saudi Arabian club in 2022, netting around $200 million per year. Along with his club salary, his many endorsement deals add to his total earnings.

Ronaldo’s income grew from $262.4 million in 2023 to $275 million in 2024. Most of his money are from his $225.8 million salary at the Saudi club, which he joined from Manchester United.

The 40-year-old star is currently renegotiating his contract and may earn $4.1 million per week if the deal is finalized. Since joining the club, Ronaldo has scored 75 goals in 84 matches.

NBA player Stephen Curry ranks second in earnings with $156 million. Curry recently became the first NBA player to make 4,000 career three-pointers. Boxer Tyson Fury is third, making $146 million. Fury’s income also comes from his involvement in Maltese tourism and a Netflix reality show.

The fourth spot belongs to NFL quarterback Dak Prescott, who earned $137 million thanks to a new contract and signing bonuses. Lionel Messi, who used to be in the top three, dropped to fifth place with $135 million. Messi continues to earn through endorsements with big brands like Adidas and Apple.
