Crystal Palace City FA Cup

Crystal Palace have defeated Manchester City 1-0 at Wembley, winning their first-ever FA Cup thanks to Nigerian-born star, Eberechi Eze.

Crystal Palace have made history by winning the FA Cup for the first time, beating Manchester City 1-0 in a thrilling final at Wembley.

Nigerian star Eberechi Eze scored the winning goal, continuing his impressive run by netting in his fifth consecutive game. The goal came early, just 16 minutes into the match, from a well-placed cross by Daniel Muñoz.

The game had its moments of controversy, particularly when Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson appeared to handle the ball outside the box while Erling Haaland was charging forward. However, neither the referee nor VAR punished Henderson. The goalkeeper became the hero of the day, saving a crucial penalty from Omar Marmoush and making important stops against Haaland and Jeremy Doku.

Throughout the second half, Palace defended well but still posed a threat on counter-attacks. Daniel Muñoz had a second goal ruled out for offside just before the hour mark. Manchester City’s substitute Claudio Echeverri came close to scoring on his debut but couldn’t get past the outstanding Henderson. In the end, Palace held on to secure a famous and unexpected victory.

Dean Henderson praised the team’s effort, saying they had a feeling it would be their day and credited their coach’s game plan for the win. He also dedicated the triumph to his late father and insisted that the handball incident was not controversial because he believed he was inside his area. His calmness under pressure helped Palace claim the trophy.

Football legends also praised Crystal Palace’s performance. Alan Shearer called them the better team who deserved to win, while Wayne Rooney agreed it was a well-earned victory. Former Palace striker Glenn Murray highlighted Eze’s dedication, describing how the midfielder’s resilience and spirit represent what the club stands for.

This historic win means Crystal Palace qualify for European competition for the first time, ending a long wait after two previous FA Cup final losses. For Manchester City, this marks a rare season without silverware under Pep Guardiola. Both teams now look ahead to their next challenges, with Palace preparing for a home game against Wolves and City facing Bournemouth in the league.
