Outrage As School Expels Student Over Party Fee (Video)
By Gideon Ayeni

A school identified as Aunty Joy has come under fire on social media after allegedly expelling a student because the child’s parent refused to pay a ₦15,000 party fee and dared to question the charge.
The incident over the school party fee was brought to light in a video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), where the aggrieved mother shared her experience in front of the school’s gate.
According to the woman, the school provided two separate account numbers—one for tuition and another for the party fee. She chose to pay only the tuition, insisting her child would not participate in the party.
Shockingly, she claimed the school diverted the tuition payment to cover the party fee, issued her a receipt for the party levy, and only applied the balance to tuition. When she visited the school to demand accountability, the situation escalated.
“They told the teachers to return my child’s school fees. They said they’re expelling my child because I complained and refused to pay for the party,” the woman said in the now-viral video.
“We were given different accounts for tuition and party fees. We paid for tuition, but they issued a party levy receipt instead. Now they’ve asked the teachers to bring my child’s things out because we complained about the ₦15,000 party fee,” she added, visibly distressed.
She further alleged that the school management instructed staff to lock her out of the premises and block her from speaking with teachers or retrieving her child’s belongings.
