Peter Obi Clears Air On Fighting Tinubu, Others (Video)
By Gideon Ayeni

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has once again captured public attention with a passionate declaration that his political mission was not centered on personal rivalries but on fighting Nigeria’s deep-rooted socio-economic challenges.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Obi while addressing those who thought he was fighting personalities and for position, he said that his meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Vatican would have shown that his quest in the political space was not a personal mission for self aggrandizement.
Calm and composed, Obi used the opportunity to redirect national attention to what he described as Nigeria’s “real enemies.”
“I am not fighting Tinubu. I am fighting against hunger, against poverty, against poor education, and against poor healthcare for Nigerians,” Obi stated emphatically, reinforcing his long-held view that politics should be about service, not strife.
He explained that his mission transcends party politics or personal ambitions, describing himself as part of a “coalition” focused on improving lives rather than trading insults or wrestling for power. “Politics, for me, is not about positions. It is about doing the right thing,” he added.

Obi also reiterated his commitment to improving education and health systems, calling for free and compulsory basic education as enshrined in the law. “Our children are supposed to go to school for free. It’s in the law,” he said, referencing his achievements as former governor of Anambra State as a potential model for national progress.
He also challenged Nigerians at large to prioritize conversations around real issues plaguing the country. “what we should be talking about is how to educate these children” Obi said.
The video has gone viral on several Nigerian news platforms with many Nigerians praising the former governor’s clarity, humility, and people-focused approach. Several users described his message as a breath of fresh air in a political landscape often dominated by blame games and personality clashes.
While some critics dismissed his statement as calculated rhetoric as the political temperature ahead of 2027 begins to rise, others hailed Peter Obi as one of the few leaders genuinely invested in fighting for Nigeria’s development.
