Donald Trump responded to Biden’s aggressive cancer diagnosis, saying he and Melania were saddened to hear the news and wished him a fast and successful recovery.

Former President Joe Biden has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

This serious news was shared publicly after Biden experienced increasing urinary symptoms, which led to medical tests revealing a small nodule on his prostate.

His office confirmed the diagnosis on Friday, explaining that the cancer is a high-grade type, with a Gleason score of 9, indicating it is very aggressive. The cancer has also spread to his bones. Despite this, doctors say the cancer is hormone-sensitive, which means it can be treated effectively.

In response to the news, President Donald Trump expressed sympathy. He said, “We wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.” Trump and his family put aside their political rivalry to send well wishes, with Trump’s eldest son also hoping for Biden’s speedy recovery.

Biden, who served as the oldest U.S. president in history, has had ongoing health concerns, and questions about his fitness for office were a significant topic during his term. His age and health issues influenced his decision not to run for re-election in 2024.

During his time in office, Biden focused heavily on fighting cancer. He revived the Cancer Moonshot initiative, which aims to cut cancer deaths by half by 2047 and improve the lives of patients. This cause is personal to him, as his late son Beau died from a severe form of brain cancer, which Biden has linked to exposure during military service.

Biden’s health struggles are not new; he has faced skin cancers in the past and had a cancerous lesion removed from his chest in early 2023. After a physical exam in 2024, his doctor said he was “fit to serve.”

The cancer diagnosis has led Biden and his family to discuss treatment options with his medical team. Hormone therapy, which reduces testosterone to slow cancer growth, is a likely path for managing his illness.

Recently, Biden appeared in media interviews with his wife, including a joint TV appearance in early May. However, a new book set to be published soon will highlight concerns about his cognitive decline during his presidency and how some aides attempted to hide the severity of his health issues.

During his presidency, Biden had moments that raised questions about his physical health, including a public fall at a commencement speech in 2023. Some aides reportedly considered the possibility of him needing a wheelchair during his re-election campaign but aimed to keep it from the public eye.

Despite all the challenges, Biden and his family remain focused on managing his health with the best possible care.
