Pastor George Izunwa has given his perspective on why many pastors’ children often distance themselves from God and the church when they leave their parents’ home.

Nigerian televangelist, Pastor George Izunwa has given his perspective of the challenges faced by pastors’ children, attributing their struggles to societal pressures and unrealistic expectations.

Pastor Izunwa, speaking from the pulpit in a clip that has since gone viral highlighted the judgment and criticism that pastors’ children endure. “Church people judge them to hell,” he states, pointing out how every action they take is scrutinized. “Everything they do, you criticize the way they dress, the way they talk,” he adds, suggesting that this constant scrutiny pushes them away from the church.

He argued that such expectations were unfair, as these children were not meant to be models but rather individuals in need of guidance. “I’m not here to present them as models for everything. I am here to train them to live right,” he emphasizes, calling for a more supportive approach.

The pastor’s message resonated with the audience, who responded with nods and murmurs of agreement. He challenged the congregation to reconsider their attitudes, urging them to allow these children to be themselves. “Let my girl be herself,” he pleaded as he advocated for a space where they could grow without the burden of perfection. His words, delivered with passion, underline the need for empathy and understanding within the church community.
