Chris Brown Granted £5m Bail Over Tequila Bottle Attack
By Benjamin Abioye

American singer Chris Brown has secured a £5 million bail after being accused of a 2023 bottle assault on producer Abraham Diaw at a nightclub in London.
American singer Chris Brown has been granted bail of £5 million by a UK court in connection with an alleged bottle attack that happened two years ago in a London nightclub.
According to the charge, Brown is accused of causing serious bodily harm to music producer Abraham Diaw. Prosecutors claim the incident was an “unprovoked attack” where Brown reportedly struck Diaw with a tequila bottle in 2023.
The R&B star has not yet been required to enter a plea in court regarding the accusation. He was not present during the recent court session at Southwark Crown Court, where Judge Tony Baumgartner approved his bail.
Following the court’s decision, Brown is now allowed to continue with his ongoing international music tour. His bail conditions allow him to perform in several countries, including the UK in June and July.
As part of the bail terms, Brown is required to pay a £5 million security fee. This amount serves as a financial assurance that he will return for court proceedings. If he fails to comply with any of the bail conditions, the money could be forfeited.
The court outlined that Chris Brown must live at an address known to the authorities. He is not allowed to go near the nightclub where the incident allegedly took place and is also banned from contacting Abraham Diaw. In addition, he is prohibited from applying for any international travel documents unless it’s for approved travel related to his tour.
Judge Baumgartner also ordered that Brown must hand over his passport when not on tour. To secure his release on Wednesday, the singer paid £4 million, with the remaining £1 million to be deposited within a week.
Chris Brown is expected to appear again in court on June 20, alongside his co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, a 38-year-old American national.
