Zamfara Governor Convert Sentence

The Zamfara State Government has denied claims that a woman, Zainab Muhamadu is facing the death penalty for converting from Islam to Christianity, calling the report fake.

The Zamfara State Government has responded to claims that a young woman, identified as 22-year-old Zainab Muhamadu, is facing a death sentence for converting to Christianity. The government has described the story as completely false.

Sulaiman Bala Idris, the spokesperson for Governor Dauda Lawal, dismissed the report as fake and misleading. According to him, the story was fabricated by individuals trying to create unnecessary panic and unrest in the state.

“The attention of the Zamfara State Government has been drawn to mischievous fake news circulating about a 22-year-old Miss Zainab Muhamadu, who is facing the death penalty for converting to Christianity,” Idris stated in an official release.

He continued, “We want to categorically state that it is the handiwork of enemies of peace, who are hellbent on creating a tension where there is none.”

Idris explained that the picture used in the viral story is not even of a Nigerian woman, but of an American. He added that the online source that first posted the claim has a reputation for spreading unverified and false information.

“The fake news, which was spread on social media by an online platform notorious for circulating unverified stories and falsehoods, is nothing more than a failed attempt to disrupt peace,” he added.

The statement went further to clarify that after a proper check with all the relevant authorities and security agencies in the state, it was confirmed that no such case exists. In fact, the Grand Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal in Zamfara confirmed that no matter related to Zainab or any conversion case has come before any Sharia court in the state.

In summary, the Zamfara government has strongly denied the existence of any case involving a woman called Zainab Muhamadu being tried or punished for changing her religion. Officials are urging the public to ignore such fake news designed to stir up division and fear.
