Saraki, Mbah, Others Interrogate Hard Questions On PDP’s Future
By Benjamin Abioye

After a key PDP strategy meeting in Enugu, Senator Bukola Saraki has voiced strong confidence in the party’s future, despite the internal leadership crisis it faces.
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has shared his strong belief Enugu that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can overcome its current internal problems and eventually return to power.
He spoke about this after attending a PDP strategy and planning meeting in Enugu State. The meeting involved Governor Peter Mbah and Senators Seriake Dickson and Ibrahim Dankwambo.
Saraki explained the purpose of the meeting in a post on social media, saying, “I just concluded a meeting in Enugu State with His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, alongside Senators Seriake Dickson and Ibrahim Dankwambo of the @OfficialPDPNig Strategy and Way Forward Committee.”
He added that the group addressed the problems facing the party directly and worked on ideas to help move it forward. “We didn’t sidestep the issues. We confronted the fractures in our foundation, asked the hard questions, and began shaping a real, workable plan to move our party forward,” he said.
Saraki also spoke about his commitment to the PDP and its values, stating, “I believe in the PDP. I believe in what it has stood for and what it can still become, if we’re willing to do the hard, unglamorous work of rebuilding from the inside out.”
He acknowledged that challenges remain ahead, but expressed hope and confidence in the party’s ability to succeed. “The road ahead won’t be easy. It will test us and demand more from each of us. But I leave Enugu more convinced than ever: we have the people, the resolve, and the clarity to rise to the occasion—and to lead again. #PowerToThePeople,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the PDP has been facing leadership struggles regarding the office of the National Secretary. The dispute began when Samuel Anyanwu left his position to run for governor in Imo State, a race he later lost.
During his absence, the party’s Southeast Caucus supported Sunday Ude-Okoye as the new National Secretary. But after the election loss, Anyanwu returned to reclaim his former position, which has caused tension and confusion within the party.
