Father Of Su!cide UTME Candidate Accuses JAMB Of Withholding “True” Result

Femi Opesusi, the grieving father of 19-year-old Timilehin Opesusi, who tragically died by suicide after receiving her 2025 UTME result, has made an emotional plea to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), demanding the release of what he believes is his daughter’s actual score.

In an interview with Channels Television, Mr. Opesusi accused JAMB of either concealing or altering Timilehin’s UTME result, which he insists did not reflect her academic ability.

He described his daughter as devastated after seeing a score of 146, despite previously scoring 190 in the 2024 examination.

“She kept saying, ‘Daddy, this is not my result,’” the heartbroken father recounted.

Timilehin Opesusi, who was residing with her elder sister in Ikorodu, Lagos, was one of over 300,000 students affected by the technical disruptions that plagued the 2025 UTME across multiple JAMB CBT centers. According to her father, the discrepancy between her previous and current scores deeply troubled her.

Despite efforts to comfort her and reassure her that the issue could be resolved, Timilehin tragically ended her life just hours later.

Mr. Opesusi expressed deep disappointment at what he described as JAMB’s silence and lack of engagement with the family since the incident.

“They have never called me, they have never granted me an interview, they have never said anything to me. I don’t want to see them. What I want is the actual result of my daughter, that’s the only thing,” he said.

Mr Opesusi emphasized that he was not seeking compensation or an apology from JAMB—only clarity and fairness for the memory of his late daughter on the UTME scores that led to her death.
