Angel Smith: No Problem Tagging Me With Lesbians
By Benjamin Abioye

Angel Smith has addressed the backlash from a viral video, stating she has refused to be insulted by lesbian labels and has called out society’s double standards.
Former Big Brother Naija star Angel Smith has responded to criticism following a video showing her hugging another woman closely that insinuated her as a lesbian.
Angel Smith took to Snapchat to share her thoughts, saying that being called a lesbian is not an insult. She pointed out the contradiction in society where serious issues like paedophilia often go unnoticed, yet her personal life and sexuality face intense scrutiny.
She emphasized that it is her life to live and, as an adult, she has the freedom to make her own choices. Angel also stressed the need to respect different beliefs and opinions, adding that she is not homophobic.
Addressing the backlash, she noted that people’s opinions change and will soon be forgotten. She said, “Nigerians discover that other people don’t share the same politics as them and then lose their minds, like wow calling me a lesbian is not the gag you think it is not is it an insult, bad news my fine ass.”
Angel further explained, “Mind you, this is my life. You people did not come upon some secret thing. I posted it myself, and I let my friends post it because guess what? It’s probably shocking, but can you imagine that this is my life, and I’m an adult, and I can do whatever I like?”
She added, “And that is shocking again; I am not homophobic, and did you guys also know that because you think something is bad doesn’t mean the other person shares the same beliefs as you?”
Concluding, Angel reminded everyone, “Did you guys also know that we will die one day, and your opinions will be nothing more than a whisper caught in the wind? Shocking I know.”
