The APC Plateau chapter has formed a three-member panel to investigate Saleh Zazzaga’s endorsement of Governor Caleb Mutfwang and President Bola Tinubu ahead of 2027 elections.

The Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has set up a three-member panel to look into the actions of one of its leaders, Saleh Zazzaga.

This comes after Zazzaga reportedly showed support for Governor Caleb Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as President Bola Tinubu, ahead of the 2027 elections.

During a meeting held on Monday, the State Working Committee (SWC) described Zazzaga’s public endorsement as going against the interests of the party. The committee considered his actions to be an example of anti-party behavior.

In a statement shared by the APC’s Acting Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, the party’s State Chairman, Rufus Bature, expressed concern over how the situation was received by the public. He said the social media response from last weekend painted the party in a negative light.

He stated: “The meeting further noted that the unfortunate development cannot be dismissed with the wave of the hand and as such, needs to be handled according to the dictates of the Party’s Constitution.”

The statement added that the party has now set up an investigative panel to find out the truth behind the reports and to determine if Zazzaga really broke any rules. The investigation will follow the party’s internal guidelines.

“Accordingly, the meeting resolved that an investigative panel be set up to determine the veracity or otherwise of the alleged offence as well as the culpability of Alhaji Saleh, in line with the Party’s guidelines.”

After forming the panel, the chairman reminded members to act fairly and without bias.

“After constituting the panel, the Chairman admonished the members to be fair to all concerned without any fear or favor, and gave them two weeks within which to submit their report as enshrined in the Party’s Constitution.”

The chairman also took a moment to praise the party’s delegates for their active participation in the APC’s recent national summit and the North-Central zonal meeting held in Abuja.

“The Chairman used the opportunity to commend the active role played by the State’s delegates during the Party’s national summit and North-Central zonal meeting last week in Abuja.”

The party also appreciated its members for staying loyal and supportive.

“Meanwhile, members of the Party have been applauded for their continued support and loyalty to the Party.”
