Prayer Nigeria Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said that prayer has played a big role in keeping Nigeria from becoming worse than it is now.

He made this known during a special Thanksgiving service and prayer session held at the church’s national headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

During his message, Pastor Adeboye reflected on the struggles Nigeria is currently facing. He said that even though things are hard, the situation would have been far more terrible if people had not continued to pray. “Some say, ‘You’ve been praying and fasting — where is the result?’ I laugh. If we had not prayed, Nigeria would have been in a far worse state. Let’s not stop,” he said.

He explained that the power of prayer has helped stop more disasters from happening in the country. According to him, prayer is like a shield that has protected Nigeria from complete breakdown. “There is a God who rules in the affairs of men. If those praying would pause for just one week, the difference would be terrifying. Keep praying. God controls the hearts of kings,” he added, encouraging everyone not to give up on interceding for the country.

Pastor Adeboye also spoke about how God has continued to protect the RCCG through the years. He described the church as being under a spiritual covering that has kept it safe. “There is something peculiar about the Redeemed Christian Church of God. There is a shield over the RCCG — unseen but undeniably present,” he said.

He shared several stories to show how RCCG has been miraculously protected in the past. One example was a house in the United States used for RCCG fellowship meetings. He said that while 14 houses on the street were destroyed by flooding, the one marked with an RCCG sign was left untouched. “House after house was flooded, but house number eight — the only one with a sign that read, ‘House Fellowship of RCCG holds here’ — remained untouched,” he said.

He also recalled a major fire incident at Otedola Bridge in Lagos. Many buildings were destroyed by flames, but one RCCG building was left unharmed. “The buildings before and after were consumed, yet the RCCG building was left standing. That is not a coincidence — that is divine covering,” he explained. During the service, an image of the building that was spared was shown to the congregation.

In closing, Pastor Adeboye reminded the people that although God’s protection cannot be seen with the eyes, it is very real and powerful. “Your security is only assured in Him. Whether in peace or war, young or old, the Almighty casts a shadow of protection over His own,” he said.
