By Gideon Ayeni

Tragedy has struck Katsina State following the death of Honourable Aminu Dan Hamidu, the recently elected Chairman of Bakori Local Government Area.

Hamidu passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025—barely two months after officially taking office in April.
Hamidu was elected during the February 2025 local government elections and had only just begun his tenure when news of his passing emerged. While the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed, unverified reports suggest he had been battling an undisclosed illness prior to his demise.
His death was formally announced by Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
In an official statement, Governor Radda expressed profound sorrow over the loss, describing Hamidu as “a humble, honest, and committed public servant” who served his people with sincerity and distinction.
“Even within his brief time in office, Honourable Aminu Dan Hamidu exemplified the qualities of a true leader—his compassion, dedication, and tireless concern for the well-being of his constituents were evident,” the governor stated.
Governor Radda commended Hamidu’s record in public service, highlighting his integrity and the quiet but impactful way he conducted himself. “He did not seek the spotlight, but his actions spoke volumes,” he added.
On behalf of the government and people of Katsina State, the governor extended heartfelt condolences to Hamidu’s family, the people of Bakori Local Government, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the state.
He prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive Hamidu’s shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdausi, noting that the late chairman would be remembered for his modesty, commitment, and unwavering love for his people.
